The context

Trust verified.

Arcadia Company private investigator conducting investigations on domestic workers and caregivers to protect vulnerable individuals

The introduction of domestic workers, family assistants or caregivers into the home and the core of the most intimate relationships constitutes an act of absolute trust. However, statistical and jurisprudential evidence shows a significant increase in illegal conduct perpetrated by disloyal domestic staff against family assets and, in the most serious cases, the safety of vulnerable or dependent persons. When the first suspicions arise, inertia or reliance on empirical checks do not allow protection of one's loved ones nor the initiation of formal disputes.

Arcadia Company, an investigative agency holding a Prefectural License pursuant to art. 134 TULPS, conducts specialised investigations to verify the loyalty and caregiving suitability of domestic workers, caregivers and babysitters. Our intervention, planned in synergy with legal experts, aims to gather stable objective and documentary evidence necessary to trigger dismissal for just cause without notice, pursue civil compensation actions, or support criminal complaints.

Criminal intervention areas: abuse, abandonment and circumvention

Investigations carried out by Arcadia Company's anti‑fraud division focus on combating offences of exceptional criminal gravity, structuring the evidential dossier according to procedural needs:

  • Family abuse and omission offences (Art. 572 c.p.): We document domineering behaviours both active (physical assaults, beatings, insults, arbitrary administration of sedatives) and omission (failure to provide life‑saving medical treatments, deprivation of food or total neglect of the assisted person's hygiene). The collected evidence enables immediate interruption of the criminal conduct and preservation of the relative's health.
  • Circumvention of incapacitated persons and emotional scams (Art. 643 c.p.): We intervene where there is suspicion that the domestic assistant is isolating the elderly or disabled person from their family core to create a psychological dependency. This manipulation is often aimed at inducing the victim to carry out detrimental financial acts, such as joint ownership of bank accounts, donations, signing life insurance policies or making testamentary changes. Our investigations reconstruct the causal link between the abuse of vulnerability and the patrimonial disposition.
  • Thefts and misappropriation of material assets: The unlawful appropriation of cash, precious jewellery or silverware is monitored to ascertain the exclusive responsibility of the domestic employee, excluding involvement of external parties or simulated break‑ins.

Countering false union claims and black‑labour extortion

A widespread labour‑law phenomenon concerns disputes launched by domestic staff after the termination of the employment relationship. It is common to resort to threats of reporting to the Labour Inspectorate or to initiate spurious union disputes to demand payment for alleged overtime never performed, inflated board and lodging allowances, or the regularisation of fictitious periods of undeclared work.

Arcadia Company supports employers and their labour consultants by gathering evidential elements regarding the actual nature of the services and the genuine compliance with contracted working hours. Through documentary verification and analysis of attendance flows, we provide tools to dismantle exorbitant or extortionate economic claims.

Use of technology and criminal defensive investigations: In compliance with regulations and the guidance of the Garante della Privacy, the installation of concealed video‑monitoring systems inside the residence is lawful when aimed at protecting the physical safety of vulnerable persons or safeguarding personal/household assets from serious crimes. Arcadia Company operates within the scope of defensive investigations (ex art. 391‑octies c.p.p.), safeguarding the admissibility of audio‑video evidence in criminal proceedings.

Investigative methodology and value of the forensic dossier

Each investigation carried out by Arcadia Company concludes with the issuance of a Certified Forensic Investigative Dossier. The descriptive report chronologically summarises the field‑collected elements and is supplemented by high‑resolution photo‑video evidence equipped with timestamping and immutable digital hash.

Personal data processing is carried out applying the proportionality and necessity criteria imposed by the European GDPR, in full compliance with the directives of the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali. The employed private investigators who coordinated the surveillance activity and examined field behaviours are authorised to testify as formal witnesses before the Judicial Authority.
